The Role

Our Sydney office, which is made up of over 200 staff including 23 Partners, is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our Private Accounting and Tax Division. The Accounting and Tax Division has over 80 people and offers career pathways including complex tax advisory, business consulting, outsourced finance functions, or general accounting and tax services for a portfolio of clients. In the private and family business team, we act for a wide variety of clients including:

  • Private businesses with turnover ranging from $2M to $400M+
  • High net worth individuals with family wealth up to $250M+

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in Xero to prepare financial statements; strong accounting skills and thorough understanding of tax concepts affecting individual, SME, and investment clients (GST, Division 7A, Personal Services Income, Capital Gains Tax).
  • Control and run assigned engagements and ensure successful completion of concurrent assignments using technical competence and available resources.
  • Attend to overall client engagement including accounting and tax compliance services for a portfolio of private family and business clients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm
  • Relevant degree and CA or CPA qualified or working towards
  • Strong investigative, problem-solving and analytical skills; proven private tax and accounting experience with relevant technical knowledge
  • Clear and articulate communication skills; demonstrated organisational skills and attention to detail
