Overview

Senior Business Analyst (Trading) in Melbourne. Responsible for gathering and documenting functional requirements for trade booking, life cycle events, and risk reporting, and for acting as a bridge between business users and IT development teams.

Responsibilities
  • Engage closely with traders, risk managers, and the middle office to gather and document functional requirements related to trade booking, life cycle events, and risk reporting.
  • Act as the functional bridge between business users (front office, risk, ops) and IT development teams (both local and global).
  • Validate risk engine outputs and collaborate with quant/dev teams to test and calibrate new models or metrics.
  • Define UAT test scenarios and scripts aligned with business requirements.
  • Coordinate and support user testing, including data validation, regression testing, and issue resolution.
Tech Specifications (Qualifications)
  • 10+ years of experience in a Business Analyst role within trading, commodities, or financial services environments.
  • Strong domain knowledge in trade life cycle, market risk, and front-to-back trading workflows.
  • Experience with trading or risk systems (e.g., Orchestrade, Murex, Endur, Beacon, Calypso).
  • Good understanding of data handling and querying (e.g., SQL, Excel, scripting for analysis).
  • Ability to write clear functional requirements and work independently on business process analysis.
  • Proficient in writing and validating functional specs, test cases, and UAT scenarios.
  • Solid knowledge of trading concepts such as Greeks, VaR, P&L, trade capture, and curve management.
