Australian governments are now committed to a net zero economy for Australia by 2050 and our vision is to enable this. We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems, and our core values revolve around character, commitment, and connection. Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.
Oversee short-term transition planning to ensure Victoria's power system remains secure, reliable and resilient as coal generation retires. Project planning experience. Hybrid working / Excellent culture & benefits including bonus / Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide location. Significant experience in power system planning & operation of electricity systems required. Strong stakeholder skills and deep knowledge of the electricity market.
About The Role
The Manager, Victorian System Resilience & Performance, leads a team delivering high-quality network planning analysis, insights, and technical advisory services for the Victorian Declared Shared Network. This role ensures the network can reliably and securely integrate the investment needed for the power system's transition to net zero emissions. Success requires strong collaboration across AEMO, VicGrid, Victorian network service providers, and particularly with AEMO's operations, network services, and delivery teams.
As a senior leader empowering a team of approximately seven, you will shape and strengthen AEMO as an exceptional organisation—providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy today while enabling the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians. You will guide with integrity, compassion, and authenticity, embrace diversity and inclusion, and inspire and empower the Victorian System Resilience & Performance team to deliver on AEMO's strategic and operational goals.
In this newly created role, you'll work at the forefront of the energy transition and play a pivotal part in preparing the power system 2–3 years ahead of coal plant closures, ensuring all activities are completed for a smooth transition. Working closely with our internal operations and planning teams, VicGrid and industry you will deliver the strategies and actions needed before major plant closures.
This role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, collaborating with the existing team to shape responsibilities, refine processes and find what works best. Expertise in network planning and operations highly desirable.
This position can be based out of our Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide offices noting that quarterly travel will be required if you do not reside in Melbourne.
Applications close Monday 1 September 2025 – 5pm.
