Casula High School is a coeducational, comprehensive educational setting that currently has 1250 students enrolled, including 4% Aboriginal students and 60% students from a non-English speaking background. The staff and parent groups at the school have a deep commitment to the school and the growth, wellbeing and learning of all students. Student motivation and achievement are enhanced through excellent quality teaching and learning programs, welfare structures and support programs that enhance the intellectual, creative, leadership, social and physical skills of students. The Student Representative Council (SRC) is a vibrant and committed student body that holds a high profile and plays an active role in the school. The staff and students are guided by the school values of courage, courtesy and concern, as these core principles support students as they strive to reach their full potential.
Specific Selection Criteria- Approval to teach students with English as an Additional Language/Dialect needs (secondary) or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in EAL/D qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
- An understanding of the demands of working with diverse cultural backgrounds and the challenges faced by EALD learners.
- Ability to develop and implement EALD programs and resources tailored to EALD student needs
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special NotesApplicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher English as an Additional Language or Dialect qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 12 months.
