Our global team of over 5,200 dedicated mining professionals are supporting the industry to decarbonise mining operations in the accelerating green transition. What you'll do:

Our tailings engineers work on large-scale, world-class projects both in Australia and internationally. We are the tailings consultant of choice for several global mining companies, and our team works across the entire full lifecycle of tailings projects, from feasibility and site investigation through to design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and closure. We are now looking for talented engineers to help support the ongoing growth and success of our business. As a WSP professional, you will have access to our world-class geotechnical laboratory facilities and global network of technical expertise. Having our own laboratory enables us to closely manage the quality from sampling through to testing and design. As a Tailings Engineer at WSP, you will:

• Join a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team of highly skilled professionals who are working on a diverse range of projects across various commodities and clients. The balanced portfolio of work will allow you to build and sharpen your technical skills, keep work interesting, and continue your professional growth.
• Deliver best practice consulting services to clients in Australia and overseas.
• Prepare and deliver technical deliverables such as proposals and reports, and undertake design assessments, including stability and seepage analyses.
• Interpret results from laboratory testing and prepare summary reports.
• Using laboratory and field results, develop a basis for defensible soil strength parameters.
• Undertake screening level and detailed design analyses to support the design of tailings storage facilities and other earth structures, initially under close guidance from our senior specialists, but with a view to carrying out such work independently.
• Develop designs for tailings storage facilities and other earth structures.
• Assist with project planning and preparation of technical deliverables.
• Assist with the coordination of client-contractor requests.

About You

• Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil or Mining Engineering.
• Proven working experience on tailings related projects locally or internationally, ideally in a consulting environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently autonomously and in a team environment, including on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management ability.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
• Drive to balance innovation, quality, and technical excellence with delivery to timelines and cost.
• Flexible to meet project outcomes and quality and cost focused approach.
