About the Opportunity

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is looking for a full-time Coordinator Civil Maintenance & Fleet based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA.

This role is responsible for leading the Civil Maintenance and Fleet teams, reporting to the Manager Operations, and overseeing the delivery of Council's construction and maintenance programs, reactive maintenance activities, and fleet operations to ensure efficient service delivery.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Leading and mentoring a team to ensure the effective management and maintenance of the City's civil infrastructure, roads, drainage, footpaths, and fleet.
  2. Overseeing Civil Maintenance, Civil Projects, Fleet Acquisition, and Fleet Maintenance teams to ensure high service levels.
  3. Managing operational and capital works projects to enhance the city's presentation and infrastructure.
  4. Ensuring compliance with procurement, asset management, and regulatory requirements.
  5. Developing and implementing stakeholder engagement plans for works impacting the community.
  6. Driving a proactive approach to asset and fleet management, including planning for acquisitions, disposals, and maintenance.
  7. Ensuring all operations comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and City policies.
  8. Preparing and presenting reports with recommendations on business unit operations.
  9. Reviewing, updating, and managing the Fleet Management Plan, ensuring optimal operations and asset longevity.
About You

To qualify, you will need a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience in civil construction and maintenance. You will also require demonstrated experience in managing teams and delivering infrastructure maintenance programs.

You will be required to have:

  1. Experience in civil maintenance and construction, ensuring compliance with WHS standards
  2. Expertise in fleet and asset management, procurement, and contract administration
  3. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate teams
  4. Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities
  5. A commitment to customer service, safety, and operational excellence

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  1. Local government experience in civil maintenance or a related field
  2. The ability to develop long-term infrastructure renewal plans
  3. Proficiency in asset management software for scheduling repairs and maintenance
  4. A continuous improvement mindset to enhance operations
  5. Strong budget management and resource allocation capabilities
  6. Ability to build effective relationships with teams, stakeholders, and the community
