Chapter Lead - Credit Cards Software Engineering

Commonwealth Bank is seeking a Chapter Lead - Credit Cards Software Engineering to lead a team in Retail Technology – Consumer Finance (Credit Cards Crew). This role focuses on delivering digital experiences that are simple, smart and secure, while shaping the technology direction for the team and building high-quality, reliable solutions for millions of customers.

Overview

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you'll cultivate a growth mindset and support innovative ways of working across a team of up to 10 engineers. You'll be responsible for strategic technology direction, code reviews, and creating a safe, collaborative environment where engineers' voices are heard.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team (up to 10 engineers).
  • Set and drive the strategic technology direction for the team.
  • Review code and ensure high quality, reliable software solutions.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and collaborative working environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver digital experiences that are simple, smart and secure.

  • Have a solid understanding of large-scale distributed systems, microservices and cloud technology.
  • Are comfortable supporting the bank's API-driven, event-driven architecture ambitions (BIAN API-based).
  • Have experience troubleshooting complex technical issues involving multiple system components.
Tech Skills
  • Programming: C#, .NET, Python or Java.
  • Cloud: AWS or Azure.
  • DevSecOps tooling including CI/CD pipelines and observability tools.
  • Knowledge of Gen AI is beneficial.
