Design Manager

Jacobs is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Manager to join our Advanced Facilities - Data Centre team in the Australia/New Zealand region. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead while continuing to grow your career, delivering advanced facilities projects within the region whilst connecting with our leading global practice. You will help provide clients with award-winning planning, design, engineering, construction, and solutions delivery for mission-critical data centre projects, with a focus on designing, delivering, and operating infrastructure with efficiency and sustainability.

• Lead development and monitoring of design programmes in association with Technical and Discipline Leads, managing information requirements, assumptions, and reporting
• Coordinate and define package scope and technical delivery, controlling change, budgets, and resources to deliver projects
• Lead multidisciplinary design projects from concept through to construction and handover
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on day-to-day project matters, building and maintaining positive collaborative relationships
• Chair internal and external design meetings, facilitating communication and coordination between stakeholders
• Oversee the production of project documentation, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines and budgets
• Lead project commercial activities including invoicing, project reporting, and managing dashboards
• Support the Principal Designer in planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating health and safety during pre-construction phases, ensuring regulatory compliance
• Coordinate with core design disciplines and specialist inputs to ensure cohesive final designs
• Manage multiple priorities and concurrent projects across the full lifecycle, including planning, design verification, tendering, contract administration, and risk management
• Champion and advocate for emerging design services, promoting standardisation of processes and best practices

• Recognised tertiary qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or Project Management
• Professional chartership or membership of relevant professional institutions (highly regarded)
• Significant experience delivering complex mission-critical projects, preferably data centres
• Previous experience as a Design Lead and/or Project Manager on major complex data centres
• Strong commercial and client-facing skills
• Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams, including coordination with external sub-consultants
• Background in working with contractors for complex packages, including workshops, multi-disciplinary reviews, and problem-solving
• Expertise in managing scope and programme, delivering high-quality technical deliverables, and achieving financial success for projects
• Strong communication and presentation skills
