THE ROLE
Step into a pivotal leadership role in Australia's renewable energy transition. As a Project Manager in Downer's Power Projects team, you'll oversee the safe, high-quality, cost-effective delivery of high-voltage substations projects across New South Wales.
This is your chance to work on innovative infrastructure that links clean energy to the grid. You will lead dedicated delivery teams and collaborate with skilled engineers, construction managers, and technical staff. Based out of Hexham or our Eastern Creek office, you will report to the Project Director and manage complex, large-scale energy infrastructure projects from planning to completion. Your emphasis will be on delivering excellent results, collaborating with stakeholders, and promoting a culture of Zero Harm.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Guide and coach others to promote a Zero-Harm culture proactively and visibly.
- Responsible for implementing and contributing to developing project delivery plans to manage and control projects.
- Provide leadership & direction to achieve project objectives (includes standards and procedures and provide advice regarding technical issues)
- Manage projects following the Downer Project Management Delivery model.
- Support the estimating team to ensure robust tender inputs and provide support through Downer Governance reviews to ensure best practice estimating.
ABOUT YOU
You are a results-driven project leader with a proven track record of delivering complex electrical infrastructure projects. You bring technical strength, commercial acumen, and the ability to unite cross-functional teams under a common goal.
- A trade or engineering background (Electrical or similar) and relevant PM qualifications are required.
- Proven success in delivering BESS or HV infrastructure projects under EPC, D&C, or construct-only models.
- Strong commercial, stakeholder and contract management capabilities.
- A collaborative and safety-first approach, with the ability to mentor and inspire teams.
- Proficiency with project systems and tools like SAP, Excel and scheduling software.
