Canberra-based | Hybrid (2 days in-office)
Emanate Technology is partnering with a key federal government client to recruit a Program Scheduler for a 12-month contract. This role is a rare opportunity to influence resource and capacity planning across a complex, high-priority modernisation and improvement program with national significance.
About the Role
The Program Scheduler will focus on resource management, priority planning, and capacity forecasting across multiple concurrent projects. While the project schedule is already established in MS Excel, there is an upcoming move to more advanced scheduling tools such as MS Project, and potentially an enterprise program management system.
You will work closely with program leadership to interpret resource data, identify interdependencies, and assess impacts on schedules. This role is less about traditional project management and more about enabling effective decision-making through accurate, data-driven scheduling and resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Modernisation and Improvement Program with resource and capacity planning across multiple projects.
- Maintain and evolve the master program schedule, transitioning from MS Excel to MS Project, with potential future adoption of an enterprise tool.
- Identify interdependencies across the program and assess their impact on priorities and resource allocation.
- Input and manage program data in databases, with a move towards building dashboards in Tableau to support reporting and analysis.
- Provide high-level resource estimates and capacity forecasts to guide program planning.
- Collaborate with program leadership to ensure scheduling aligns with strategic priorities.
- Contribute to governance processes related to resource and scheduling accuracy.
We are seeking a candidate who has:
- Strong experience in resource and capacity planning within complex, multi-project environments.
- High proficiency in MS Excel and MS Project, with the ability to translate schedules between tools.
- Strong data analysis skills, with experience interpreting resource data to produce actionable insights.
- Understanding of interdependencies in large-scale programs and their scheduling implications.
- Familiarity with dashboard/reporting tools such as Tableau (or the ability to learn quickly).
- Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders and managing expectations.
- Previous experience delivering similar scheduling and resource planning services in a federal government environment.
- Australian Citizenship and an active Baseline Security Clearance.
- Location: Canberra (Hybrid – 2 days in-office per week)
- Contract Term: 12 months
- Clearance: Australian Citizenship required; Baseline Security Clearance essential
- Classification: APS6 equivalent
- Work on high-impact, nationally significant initiatives
- Shape resource and capacity planning for a major federal program
- Hybrid work arrangement – flexibility with in-person collaboration
- Competitive hourly rate
