Overview

Esplanade Hotel Fremantle is part of EVT. The hotel offers 300 refurbished rooms across ten room categories, two pools, multiple conferencing and event spaces, as well as a restaurant and three bars. We are seeking a full-time Repairs & Maintenance Handyperson to join our team for up to 5 days per week (38 hours).

About the role

The right candidate will have a "can do" attitude, excellent communication skills, be dependable and punctual. The position reports to the Repairs & Maintenance Manager and is responsible for day-to-day upkeep, landscaping, repairs and maintenance of the hotel. This is a hands-on role with lifting and physical activity involved.

This role includes:

  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Quality, Workplace Health, Safety and Environment systems, policies and procedures.
  • Perform a wide range of tasks in the Repairs & Maintenance team, including gardening/landscaping, silicone/grouting, minor electrical work, minor carpentry, etc.
  • Communicate directly with tradespersons, vendors or contractors and follow up as needed.
  • Execute preventative maintenance activities according to schedule.
  • Respond promptly to calls for assistance and communicate actions taken.
Key Responsibilities
  • Hands-on handyman with experience in maintenance tasks.
  • Availability to work a 7-day roster, including some evenings, weekends, public holidays and late finishes (up to 7:00pm).

Qualifications & Skills
  • Energetic, motivated, efficient at multi-tasking and able to work independently.
  • Previous maintenance/handyperson experience required.
  • Honest, punctual, reliable and physically fit.
  • Availability to work weekends and public holidays on a rotating roster when required.
  • Pay rate: HIGA Level 3-5 depending on experience and trade qualifications.
