No previous experience is required. You'll receive comprehensive training, earn while you learn and develop in-demand skills through real hands-on experience within a NSW government agency.
About You
You are ready to kick start your career with an organisation committed to helping you learn, grow, and succeed.
You're ready to gain practical, hands-on experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification, all while getting paid
Responsibilities and Requirements- You are an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident
- You have completed Year 10 or hold a Record of School Achievement (RoSA) or equivalent
- You are ready to commence full-time employment in February 2026
- You hold, or are in the process of obtaining, a C Class driver licence
- You have access to reliable transport to travel to the office or depot
- You are comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, or near live traffic as required
- You are willing to travel as part of your role
- You have basic computer literacy skills
- You demonstrate teamwork and maintain a positive, accountable approach in all you do
- You take pride in consistently delivering your best across school, work, and personal life
- You proactively seek opportunities to learn, grow, and take on new challenges
- You manage your time effectively and stay organised to meet your commitments
- 3 to 4 year fixed-term, full-time Apprenticeship
- Certificate III qualification through structured TAFE courses
- Practical, on-the-job experience to apply what you learn
- Development of key workplace skills including effective communication, teamwork, and problem solving
- Exposure to different areas of the transport industry
- Clear career pathways and professional growth opportunities
Rates of pay are dependent on age at commencement. The rates listed below are effective from 1 July 2024. Increase to Apprentice pay rates from 1 July 2025 onwards are not yet specified but will apply at the time of commencement.
- Civil Construction Apprenticeship
- 1st Year weekly rate (under 21 years old at commencement) as at 1 July 2024
- Adult weekly rate (21 years old or over at the commencement) as at 1 July 2024
- Heavy Diesel Mechanical Apprenticeship
- 1st Year weekly rate
- Adult weekly rate

Recruitment TimelineTo support a smooth and efficient hiring process, below is an overview of the anticipated recruitment timeline. Once applications close, the Talent team will review all submissions for shortlisting. A virtual information session will be held on Wednesday 24 September at 10:00 AM and Monday 29 September at 4:00 PM. You will receive an email invitation and are required to attend one of the sessions. Face-to-face interviews will take place between 13 October and 7 November 2025. Candidates who are successful at interview will progress to pre-employment checks. A talent pool may be created for future roles over the next 18 months. If you are assessed as suitable and a vacancy becomes available, you may be contacted to complete pre-employment checks. Applications close: 11:59 pm Sunday 24 August 2025.
