About The Role
La Salle Academy has an exciting opportunity for a School Support Officer to join the team on a temporary basis in 2025. The role will be a part time position where the hours may slightly vary based on students' needs.
Role
The School Support Officer will support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality instruction to students in a Catholic School setting. The role will involve:
- Providing in-class support for teachers and their students with learning needs
- Supporting and supervising students with additional learning needs in and out of the classroom environment
- Facilitating the remedial reading program (MacqLit)
- Assisting with data collection and maintenance for legislative compliance (NCCD)
- Administrative tasks in support of NCCD and disability provisions
- Input into the planning and implementation of Personal Learning Plans
- Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure the inclusion of all students in all learning experiences
- Applying appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment
About You
The School Support Officer will cultivate a richer educational journey for our students by demonstrating the following selection criteria:
- the desire to engage with and contribute to a Catholic learning organisation
- experience and effectiveness as a Learning Support Officer, School Support Officer, Teacher's Aide or equivalent
- a capacity to work collegially and collaborate within a diverse team.
- sound communication and organisational skills, punctuality and adaptability.
- Sound personal skills that include patience, understanding and perseverance
- proven capacity to work strategically and effectively through challenges
- characteristics that provide a positive role model to students at the College both in their professional and personal life
- Have at least a Cert III or Cert IV Education Support (desirable)
