The Design Researcher plays a pivotal role in steering high-impact research initiatives, mentoring emerging talent, and producing influential research collateral. This position is ideal for someone with a strong research foundation, a flair for strategic leadership, and the ability to drive collaboration across disciplines.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of strategic research programs
• Deliver top-tier research outputs, including reports, white papers, presentations
• Facilitate workshops with internal teams and external partners
• Provide oversight and support to project researchers and research staff
• Advise on research methodology, ethics, and data analysis
• Synthesize primary and secondary data to inform design outcomes
• Foster and maintain partnerships with industry, government, and community organisations
• Lead webinars for architectural professionals aligned with national competency standards
• Supervise team members including researchers, interns, and students
• Mentor junior staff across research methodologies, tools, and workflows
• Collaborate across disciplines to gather and analyse qualitative and quantitative data
• Curate and produce polished collateral: reports, white papers, articles, visuals
• Present findings via workshops, webinars, and internal engagements
• Develop research proposals and grant applications
• Ensure adherence to client-specific research policies and procedures
• Oversee ethical conduct, including application processes and participant consent
• Maintain high standards of integrity and responsible data management

Skills and Experience

• Master's degree in a relevant field (Built Environment or Social Sciences preferred)
• Minimum 3 years' experience in design research within architecture or related fields
• Proven ability to generate research collateral for clients and stakeholders
• Reference tools like EndNote, Zotero, or Mendeley
• Skilled in qualitative and quantitative research (e.g., interviews, surveys)
• Experience with SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics
• Data and database management skills
• Familiarity with statistical tools (Excel, R, SPSS)
• Strong command of Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
• Exceptional written and verbal communication
• Effective in team collaboration and cross-functional engagement
• Strong leadership and mentoring capability
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset
• Ability to manage multiple projects with precision
