The School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry is seeking a passionate and accomplished Lecturer in Greek Literature to contribute to our vibrant program in Classics and Ancient History. This role involves undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, supervision, and academic service, with a particular focus on Classical Languages (Greek and Latin) and Greco-Roman literature.
You will play a key role in shaping curriculum, coordinating courses, and delivering high-quality teaching across the Greek, Latin, and Ancient History majors. Your research will contribute to the School's reputation for excellence, and you'll be actively involved in mentoring students and engaging with the broader academic community.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counseling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
- Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You- A PhD in Classical Greek Literature or Greco-Roman Literature (c.5th C BCE-3rd C CE).
- Demonstrated high-quality teaching in Classical Greek language and Classical Latin language at all levels, including advanced.
- Demonstrated high-quality teaching in Greco-Roman literature and history.
- Evidence of an active research profile including high quality outputs, funding, and plans for future funding.
- Willingness to share in discipline and School administration, including internal and external service and liaison with the community.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work as part of a small team.
