About the Team

The Energy team manages energy strategy, procurement, and sustainability initiatives across the organisation's entire commercial property portfolio. As commercial properties face increasing pressure to reduce energy costs and environmental impact, the team's expertise in energy analysis, market intelligence, and performance optimisation is crucial for maintaining competitive operations whilst achieving sustainability goals.

You will join a specialist energy team focused on analysing energy consumption, market trends, and cost optimisation opportunities across large-scale commercial properties. This role suits analytical professionals with energy sector experience who want to apply their skills to major commercial real estate operations.

About the Role

You will be responsible for energy market analysis, consumption monitoring, and cost optimisation strategies across the commercial property portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to work with large-scale commercial energy data and contribute to strategic energy decisions that impact major commercial properties nationwide.

Key responsibilities

• Analysing energy consumption patterns and performance across the commercial property portfolio
• Monitoring electricity and gas markets to identify cost optimisation and procurement opportunities
• Preparing detailed energy reports, forecasts, and strategic recommendations for senior management
• Supporting energy procurement strategies including contract negotiations and market timing decisions
• Analysing renewable energy opportunities including solar installations and power purchase agreements
• Managing energy data systems and ensuring accurate consumption tracking and reporting
• Supporting sustainability initiatives and net zero planning across the property portfolio
• Benchmarking energy performance against industry standards and identifying improvement opportunities
• Coordinating with property managers on energy efficiency projects and operational improvements
• Monitoring regulatory changes and market developments affecting commercial energy users
• Supporting budget planning and cost forecasting for energy expenditure across the portfolio
• Collaborating with external consultants and energy suppliers on strategic initiatives

About the Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills with specific experience in energy markets, consumption analysis, or commercial energy management. Understanding of retail or commercial property operations and energy procurement processes are essential for success in this role.

Our client is looking for someone who has:

• Proven experience in energy analysis, market research, or commercial energy management
• Strong understanding of Australian electricity and gas markets including pricing structures and procurement strategies
• Experience with energy data analysis, consumption monitoring, and performance benchmarking
• Knowledge of renewable energy solutions, energy efficiency measures, and sustainability initiatives
• Proficiency with data analysis tools including Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar platforms
• Understanding of commercial energy contracts, tariff structures, and market mechanisms
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex analysis to senior stakeholders
• Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Environmental Science, or related analytical discipline
• Experience with retail, commercial property, or facilities management beneficial
• Understanding of energy market regulations and compliance requirements
• Project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple initiatives
