About the role

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Safety and Health Lead to join our team overseeing our Northern Operation This is a full time, permanent opportunity.

The position is based at our Chandala Processing Plant, located near Muchea, 60km north of the CBD. The role also supports our nearby mine near Cataby 190km north of the CBD, on site on a weekly basis. Accommodation is available when in Cataby, if required. Our Northern Operation sites are ideally positioned for those living in the councils of Chittering, Swan, Joondalup, or Wanneroo. The Lead will be expected to spend time across both sites during the week.

The Lead will collaborate with leadership to ensure compliance with SHE regulations and standards, develop and implement emergency procedures, and foster a strong Health & Safety culture.

This role involves managing SHE systems, conducting incident investigations, and utilizing data analysis to drive improvements. The Lead will also be responsible for resource management, financial planning, and people development to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coach and mentor employees to foster a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with regional laws and regulations affecting operational practices and activities. Applying relevant occupational safety and health regulations and standards to daily work activities.
  • Develop and maintain procedures and programs to ensure employee safety, including occupational health, safety, and emergency response plans.
  • Foster a strong Health & Safety culture and continuously improve SHE awareness and practices.
  • Work effectively with varied individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner to positively influence processes and decisions.
  • Apply lessons learned from previous safety incidents to enhance and refine future safety practices.
  • Lead and implement health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage team budgets efficiently and ensure accurate reporting, utiliseing financial acumen to optimise resource allocation and drive cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide support to the Occupational Hygiene and Radiation programs across both sites.
About you

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of regional laws and regulations affecting operational practices in the mining, or mineral processing industries.

This role requires expertise in occupational safety and health regulations, emergency procedures, and the ability to implement and manage Safety and Health systems effectively.

Experience
  • Proven experience in leading and implementing health and safety programs
  • Demonstrated success in managing Safety and Health compliance programs
  • Proven experience in the leading and developing teams.
  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and team members, to achieve organisational goals
Qualifications
  • Diploma or higher in a relevant discipline such as Occupational Health and Safety
  • Relevant certifications in Training and Assessment, Auditing, and Incident Investigation
