The School

Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School has over 3000 students from K-12 at campuses in Moonee Ponds, Essendon and Keilor East. PEGS promotes the safety, wellbeing and participation of all students, including supporting children from culturally diverse backgrounds and those with individual needs.

The Role

Applications are invited from suitably experienced, qualified, enthusiastic and caring individuals to support student learning and well-being at our Junior School Boys (Prep to Year 6) campus, working in classrooms with individuals and groups of students.

This is a full time fixed term position working Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.06pm from 6 October 2025 to 12 December 2025.

A Learning Assistant Will Under The Guidance And Supervision Of The Teacher Assist In The Running Of Classes As Directed. This May Include
  • Assisting teachers in the preparation of program activities, including preparation and organisation of classroom resources, materials and equipment
  • Monitoring student well-being and reporting any matters of concern
  • Supporting student learning in a broad range of activities
  • Undertaking supervision duties outside of classroom activities, including playground, excursions, sports activities as required
  • Assisting the teacher in maintaining a safe and positive learning environment for the students
  • Supporting students with additional needs (eg, anaphylaxis, allergies, physical, or learning disabilities) and assisting students with additional needs in participating in school programs
  • Attending and supporting a range of school events and activities as required.

The successful applicant will have relevant experience, a Certificate III or higher relevant qualification and current first aid accreditation.
