The Aboriginal Health Practitioner provides flexible, holistic and culturally sensitive antenatal and postnatal support to improve the birthing experiences of Aboriginal women and their families in the Westmead Hospital catchment area.
This role offers a range of direct clinical services as defined by the agreed Scope of Practice and primary healthcare functions for the community.
Key Responsibilities:- Providing antenatal and postnatal care to Aboriginal women and their families
- Working with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate integrated care
- Liaising with other health professionals and external agencies
- Initiating and carrying out community screening activities
- Certificate IV in Aboriginal Health Care (Practice)
- Current Registration with AHPRA as an Aboriginal health practitioner
- Evidence of Diversity claim: Aboriginal /Torres Strait Islander
- Being Female is a genuine occupational qualification
- An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and exemption is claimed under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW
- Being a woman is also a genuine occupational qualification as authorised by Section 31 respectively of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW
- Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) with current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner
- Demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills, time management, and computer literacy
- Active involvement in the local Aboriginal community
- Ability to work unsupervised and take a lead role
