Responsibilities- Conduct assessments and deliver interventions across settings including inpatient wards, paediatric oncology day unit, community environments (family homes), and via telehealth.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (Paediatric Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, medical and nursing staff within the Oncology Service).
- Provide assessments, interventions, and care plans for patients within the John Hunter Children's Hospital Oncology Service as part of the HNEKids Allied Health service.
- Establish and support a new service with orientation, shadowing opportunities, and access to ongoing clinical supervision; promote ongoing professional development for clinicians.
- Drive a two-year pilot project to evaluate the impact of an Exercise Physiologist within Paediatric Oncology, including direct intervention and data analysis.
You are a motivated clinician with the initiative to drive this two-year pilot project, combining direct intervention with research and data analysis to evaluate the impact of an Exercise Physiologist within Paediatric Oncology. You communicate effectively with children and young people at varying stages of treatment, engage with families to establish meaningful goals, and work collaboratively to achieve them. This is a pioneering opportunity to shape a new service and contribute to clinical care while generating evidence for the future of exercise physiology in paediatric oncology.
Qualifications- Must hold a bachelor degree in exercise and sports science, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
