Junior Sommelier

Traverse Alpine Group is excited to announce openings for either a Junior Sommelier and Sommelier positions within our team. As an esteemed hospitality operator in remote areas, we focus on providing exceptional dining experiences, particularly in our renowned establishments, including Astra Falls Creek, Huski Kitchen, Frying Pan Inn, Cloud 9 and Dicky Knees.

We are looking for passionate individuals who are eager to enhance their knowledge of wines and contribute to our established wine program. As a Junior Sommelier or Sommelier at Traverse Alpine Group, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our Senior Sommelier and contribute to the success of our award-winning establishments. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to showcase your passion for fine wines and deliver an unforgettable dining experience to our guests.

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated individual who is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate will have a WSET LEVEL 2 certification and a strong knowledge of wines. You will work closely with our Senior Sommelier to update the wine list, recommend food and wine pairings, and provide guests with insights into different varieties of wines and their origins.

• Create and maintain the wine list in collaboration with the Bar Manager and chefs.
• Provide exceptional knowledge and guidance to guests regarding wine selections.
• Recommend food and wine pairings that enhance the dining experience.
• Keep track of inventory levels and manage the wine cellar efficiently.
• Ensure that wines are served at the correct temperature and in appropriate glassware.
• Organize wine tasting events and promotions to engage guests.
• Train and educate bar and wait staff about the wine offerings.
• Comply with all health and safety regulations surrounding the service of alcoholic beverages.

• For Junior Sommelier: Previous experience or training in a similar role is a plus; WSET LEVEL 2 certification preferred.
• For Sommelier: Proven experience in sommelier roles with extensive knowledge of wines and regions.
• Strong ability to create food and wine pairings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for delivering outstanding customer service and guest experiences.
• Flexibility to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays.
