Overview

Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting (6-month FTC) role at Acenda. This opportunity is open to work from the North Sydney or Melbourne office with hybrid work-from-home options.

In 2025, MLC Life Insurance is embracing a new brand identity: Acenda. The role supports compliance with financial reporting obligations by analysing requirements, understanding the business, and developing efficient processes within a robust financial control environment.

Responsibilities
  • Production of monthly and quarterly financial reporting to management, shareholders and regulators, ensuring information reported is accurate and timely.
  • Preparation of inputs into the annual financial report for submission to ASIC and supporting analysis for submission to the Board of Directors.
  • Responding to ad hoc requests from management, shareholders, auditors and regulators regarding reported information.
  • Enhancing routine reporting processes through automation and improved controls to reduce risk of error and create efficiencies.
  • Proactively managing risk; meeting policy and compliance requirements; performing controls; adhering to processes and procedures; and escalating issues as identified.
About you / Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in commerce, business or related discipline.
  • Qualified accountant (CA or equivalent) with 2+ years' post-qualification experience.
  • Good knowledge of IFRS / AASB accounting standards and/or APRA reporting.
  • Previous experience in preparing or auditing financial reporting.
  • Financial services experience is advantageous.
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to plan and prioritise activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with SMEs across the business to obtain and understand financial information.
