Clinical Nurse Educator – Surgical Inpatient Unit

The Clinical Nurse Educator provides clinical education, training and evaluation of knowledge and skills to promote and support improved nursing care within the Western NSW Local Health District. The role will assist in upskilling nurses across a broad range of proficiencies, facilitating learning through a variety of approaches.

You will show evidence of advanced clinical nursing skills with demonstrated knowledge and skill using technology appropriate to the clinical area.

As an experienced educator with a sound understanding of learning and assessment principles gained from both experience and education (such as Cert IV in Training and Assessment – or willingness to work towards), you will provide day to day and one-on-one clinical education along with in-services to meet team and individual learning needs, with a focus on new / inexperienced staff.

Importantly, you will promote a culture of continuous learning and development within our Living Well Together framework, providing clinical leadership, including preceptorship, mentorship and role modelling, to support a collaborative approach to learning and development.

You will monitor and evaluate educational programs through clinical competency assessments within scope of role to monitor nursing education gaps and ensure that clinical learning priorities are appropriately balanced with mandatory education requirements.

You'll also participate in the development and review of procedures and guidelines to improve the provision education advice and expertise.
