Overview

This role is with an Australian business specializing in global freight, shipping and logistics services. The company serves Government, Medical, Defence, Oil, Gas and Mining sectors and seeks a Network and Systems Engineer to design, manage, and secure the Project Logistics IT systems and networks. The role focuses on resilience, compliance and efficiency of business-critical technology platforms supporting operations, fleet management, training, communications and logistics systems. The candidate should be proficient in traditional network infrastructure and cloud platforms, with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity (Essential Eight), vendor engagement, and continuous improvement of system performance.

Responsibilities
  • Network & Systems Administration: Configure, operate, and support WAN/LAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, DNS, IP addressing, and network architecture. Monitor and troubleshoot network performance to ensure availability, security and scalability.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain the ACSC Essential Eight framework (targeting Maturity Level 3), including application control, patch management, ASR policies, WDAC rollout, and MFA. Administer and monitor Barracuda solutions (Cloud-to-Cloud Backup, Email Gateway, Impersonation Protection, Archiver). Enforce DMARC/SPF/DKIM policies using SendMarc and manage threat remediation.
  • Systems & Applications Support: Manage Microsoft Intune for device compliance, MFA/LAPS, admin rights, patching and Office add-in restrictions. Administer Action1 RMM and Remote Utilities for patch deployment, endpoint monitoring, and secure remote support. Oversee Zoho MDM for mobile device enrolment and compliance. Support CargoWise ERP (Warehousing module rollout and quoting system development) and manage Moodle LMS training modules for safety, compliance and onboarding. Act as the primary escalation point with external IT vendors. Collaborate with depot managers and operational teams to align systems with business needs.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in systems engineering and network administration. Strong LAN/WAN and cloud platform knowledge. Experience with CargoWise ERP and logistics industry systems is desirable.
  • Technical skills: Proficient in network administration, cybersecurity practices, and system integration across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Communication & collaboration: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with depot managers and operational teams.
  • Industry familiarity: Background in transport, logistics, energy/resources, or defence sectors is desirable.
