Job Overview:
The Principal Naval Architect is responsible for interpreting internal or external business issues and recommending best practices. They will solve complex Naval Architecture problems independently with minimal guidance. The role may include leading teams or projects and requires deep expertise in Naval Architecture and broad knowledge within the Engineering discipline.
Qualifications:
- 15-20 years of oil and gas experience, leading engineering teams and performing naval analysis for offshore structures
- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture (Master's preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of installation techniques, analysis methods, standards, codes, and guidelines
- Project coordination and execution skills
- Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering society (preferred)

Responsibilities:
- Lead engineering teams in design and installation of offshore structures, including conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses
- Provide installation load assessments and calculations to ensure structural integrity and equipment capacity
- Evaluate weather conditions for offshore operations
- Address complex problems with in-depth skills and broad business knowledge
- Prepare detailed design calculations, reports, and procedures
- Manage time and resources effectively as Lead Engineer
- Communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively
- As Lead Engineer, direct discipline engineering design, planning, and execution within schedule and budget
- Coordinate with other disciplines, vendors, and project teams to develop clash-free designs
- Support bid engineering, scope evaluation, and change management
- Interface with clients, certifying authorities, and third parties
- Review and approve technical documents, vendor data, and design verification
- Monitor project progress, KPIs, and implement corrective actions
- Guide and supervise engineers, ensuring engineering integrity and quality
- Participate in project audits, reviews, and lessons learned
- Assist in training staff and developing technical standards
Report to: Manager (Construction Support Engg)
Liaise with: Multiple engineering and project groups, vendors, clients
Supervises: Senior Engineers and Engineers
