Remarketing & Loss Recoveries Manager

Job Description - Remarketing & Loss Recoveries Manager (MER0003SE6). Based in Mulgrave, Australia, part of Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Australia. As part of the global Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG organisation, the role focuses on maximizing Remarketing and Loss Recovery performance across Australia and New Zealand portfolios, working closely with internal partners.

As the Remarketing & Loss Recoveries Manager, you will work with the Head of Operations to develop and implement business strategies aimed at maximizing profitability, minimizing write-offs and losses, and ensuring best-in-class compliance and quality. You will empower, lead and develop a high-performing team.

• Drive Auction Partners to achieve the best possible sale prices on all repossessed assets and monitor operating lease inspections, invoicing and returns.
• Manage and communicate the direction and performance of the Remarketing & Recoveries teams to key stakeholders.
• Manage the returns and excess charges for all Operating Lease products (standard, EVP & Rental).
• Oversee retailer and brand partner relationships, the return process including inspections, vehicle condition reports, payments and hand-back eligibility, and support AutoCheck App, along with internal reporting requirements.
• Digitize and automate systems, processes, and customer communications where possible.
• Deliver efficiency gains and productivity improvements to save FTE, redeploy resources, or increase return on FTE.
• Devise and deliver focus areas including sales performance, stock levels, valuation accuracy, cure rates, net cost of risk, write-offs, shortfall contracts, sale of bad debt (including spot sale), and managing external vendors.
• Develop and maintain an effective operating rhythm balancing team and individual interactions, with a view to creating a highly engaged, high-performing environment and providing best-in-class training and development for career progression.
• Maximize profitability through effective management of the Australia & New Zealand Recoveries portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, MBFS policies, approval limits, procedures, and legal standards; conduct due diligence and annual audits as necessary.
• Communicate and drive strategy and change programs with energy and negotiation to overcome barriers to success.
• Act as the subject matter expert or allocate appropriately skilled resources to support the wider business change program.
• Analyze key business data and customer feedback to present recommendations for improvements.
• Partner with the Head of Operations to set targets for performance, efficiency, and customer experience to maximize value for all stakeholders.

• Minimum of 5 years' leadership experience leading a multi-function team with 5 or more direct reports.
• Strong interest and knowledge of the automotive sector, including managing remarketing and auction house partners.
• Industry knowledge focusing within finance, insurance, banking.
• Knowledge of the National Consumer Credit Protection, Credit Act, Hire Purchase Act, Privacy Act & Debt Collection Guidelines and Mercantile Agents.
• Understanding of the Motor Vehicle Finance Industry and Used Vehicle Market, with ability to manage people and daily workflows.
• Proven success driving employee engagement and delivering best-in-class customer experience.
• Knowledge of Bankruptcy/Liquidation requirements and legal procedures.
• Experience as a Change Manager driving efficiencies, digitization and process improvements.
• Experience with coaching, mentoring, and employee development.
• Strong understanding of SLA management (external & internal) and familiarity with MBFS strategy and interactions with its dealer network.
