Teacher Learning and Support - Yass High School ( $20k Recruitment Bonus plus $5-8k Relocation Support Payment$)

Permanent full-time job at Yass High School (Yass, New South Wales, Australia) recruited via NSW Department of Education (Sydney NSW, Australia).

Position information

Yass High School is an inclusive, comprehensive and growing school with an enrolment of 565 students and 11% Aboriginal students. The school emphasises personalised success pathways and strong community relationships. It offers a broad curriculum with post-school opportunities in academic, technological, vocational and creative fields, and features new infrastructure including a STEM building (2021) and a new school hall (2023) supporting 21st century learning technologies. A Trade Centre provides vocational courses (Metals, Timber, Hospitality) and an Agriculture farm supports learning in animal management and horticulture. The Support Unit includes three Learning Hub classes and a Supported Learning Centre (SLC). A Stage 5 pathways program assists students transitioning to the workforce. The school fosters high expectations and wellbeing, with personalised guidance for course selection and ongoing curriculum development to stay relevant to today's world and to encourage independent and team work.

Specific Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach students with learning and support needs at the secondary level, or experience teaching such students in regular classes; ability to provide specialist assistance to students and teachers in regular classes with additional learning and support needs.
  • Knowledge and capacity to collaboratively plan, implement, monitor and evaluate personalised learning and support plans for students with a range of learning needs to support improved educational outcomes.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, administration, communication and organisational skills to build positive relationships with teachers, school support staff, students and parents.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is required. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you must commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 is available for eligible applicants.

Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (Conditions Apply). The Recruitment Bonus is paid on a pro rata basis for permanent part-time teachers and executive staff. The maximum recruitment bonus for a position is $20,000, including any job share arrangements.

Special notes

Applicants seeking either permanent full-time or permanent part-time employment are encouraged to apply. If the recommended applicant seeks permanent part-time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE. Applicants on the eligibility list will be offered the remaining FTE but are not obliged to accept. Further information is on the merit selection webpage.
