Are you a strategic communicator with a passion for infrastructure and community engagement? The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our Southern Queensland Region (SQR) team as Manager (Project and Stakeholder Engagement). This is a permanent, fulltime AO8 role based in Toowoomba, Bundaberg or Roma.
As part of the Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) branch, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of transport infrastructure across one of Queensland's largest and most diverse regions. You'll lead a high-performing team responsible for
delivering strategic communications and stakeholder engagement to support the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).
About The Role
This newly reclassified AO8 position reflects the growing importance of regional leadership in communications and engagement.
You Will Be Responsible For
Leading the development and implementation of communication and engagement strategies for major infrastructure projects.
Providing high-level strategic advice to the Regional Director, project teams and senior stakeholders.
Managing a team of professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality engagement across the region.
Acting as the key liaison with ministerial offices, the Strategic Communications Unit and external stakeholders.
Driving continuous improvement in communication practices and aligning with state and federal program delivery priorities.
About You
We're looking for a confident leader with:
A background in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
Experience in stakeholder engagement within complex project environments.
Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
A current Class C driver's licence (mandatory).
A commitment to ethical leadership and public service values.
Location and Impact:
