About State Insurance Schemes Division

The Division provides strategic advice to support the Treasurer and Minister for Work Health and Safety to deliver Government priorities across the State's insurance and care system. It supports the application of NSW Government commercial policy and other frameworks to Insurance and Care NSW (icare), including assessing and monitoring its commercial strategies, the efficiency and cost effectiveness of its commercial model and managing appointments to the Board.

The Division advises Government on potential pathways to position the State\'s insurance and care system to deal with the changing needs and risk exposures of the State economy. This includes developing legislation to give effect to the Government's evolving reform agenda, including in relation to workers compensation, as well as strengthening governance and accountability frameworks, financial management and other policy reforms to address rapid growth in the State's self-insurance liabilities and budgetary risks.
