Founded by young cancer patients, we offer programs and resources that truly make a difference for 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or grieving. We are now seeking a Policy Officer, who will play a pivotal role in supporting Canteen with various quality and continuous improvement related projects and initiatives. Working collaboratively across the national services team, you will apply your specialist skills and knowledge in research, policy development and implementation to influence positive change and improvement of the service user experience.

Base Salary + Superannuation + Not-For-Profit Salary Packaging (up to $18,550 of your salary tax-free).
5 Weeks Annual Leave (FTE) + 17.5% leave loading + pay during our annual office closure week.

About our role
You will be responsible for reviewing, researching, developing, implementing and evaluating operational policy across Canteen psychosocial services and programs and providing vital administrative and operational support to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Key to this role will be utilising your ability to interpret and apply legislation in the preparation of best-practice policy operational policy and guidance documents.
The role demands experience in all facets of project management, including high level stakeholder engagement, preparation reports, briefings, meeting minutes as well as policy materials, co-coordinating stakeholder activities and maintaining project documentation.
Additionally, this role requires you to be proactive, an analytical and creative thinker and be able to work independently on delivering high quality project outputs on time and to budget.
About You
Relevant tertiary qualification (certificate, diploma or degree) in fields such as public policy social work, public health/health promotion (desirable).
At least 3 years of experience working within a policy officer role or demonstrated experience of contributing to policy project work (within a related role). Demonstrated experience contributing to organisational accreditation processes and/or working in diversity, equity, and inclusion roles is also desirable.
Sound analytical, research and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret legislation and apply it to operational policies and procedures.
Excellent relationship management, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills and demonstrated experience in building collaborative relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
A proactive and positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
