Data Analyst (NV1/NV2)

Location: Barton, ACT (remote outside of Canberra may be considered for the right candidate). This is a non-ongoing opportunity for an initial 12 months with a 6-month extension option (maximum engagement of 18 months).

Overview This role is for a Federal Government client seeking a Data Analyst to contribute to data collection, analysis, and the development of data products.

Closing date: Tuesday 12th August 2025. Expression of Interest for other Data Analyst roles remains open until 05 September 2025. Australian citizens with AGSVA NV1 clearance or higher (NV2 preferred) are required due to security clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to creative and innovative solutions to meet complex data collection and analysis challenges
  • Use analytical tools and techniques to process and analyse datasets, ensuring data is accurate, current, and managed securely
  • Develop, maintain, and publish data products using tools such as PowerBI, Excel, Python/R, and other software packages
  • Transform data analysis into compelling products that are accessible to a broader audience
  • Engage with stakeholders using verbal and non-verbal communication to convey insights
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in PowerBI, data analytics, and data wrangling
  • Proficiency in the full data analytics lifecycle including collection, ETL, wrangling, cleaning, mining, and visualisation
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerBI, with access to Python/R, SQL, and other data tools
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and engage with stakeholders
  • Able to meet security clearance requirements; Australian citizenship and NV1NV2 clearance
Desirable
  • A relevant degree in data analytics or a related field
  • Previous experience in a similar data-focused role within government or policy environments
