About The Role

We are looking for a motivated professional that can contribute to a positive and supportive culture with Merri-bek City Council's Capital Works Planning and Delivery branch.

The primary responsibility of the Engineering Technical Officer is to provide technical expertise on engineering matters (including traffic, parking, drainage, waste generation) related to property developments in the Merri-bek municipality, at the planning application stage, the "report and consent" stage and the subdivision stage, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and Council policies. The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders is essential. The position shall also support the Transport Infrastructure team with project management of capital works delivery, as well as administrative duties.

Skills And Experience Required To Perform The Role
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, which would qualify the applicant for Membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia or relevant experience.
  • Local government experience in the engineering field and a sound knowledge of traffic engineering and stormwater drainage principles relating to multi-unit developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in transport engineering and knowledge of relevant standards and best-practices related to transport planning and engineering.
  • Experience in developing and delivering capital works projects.
  • Current Driver's Licence suitable for driving in Victoria.
