Correctional centres are responsible for delivering custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in high or low security correctional centres. High security centres manage adult prisoners in secure custody across Queensland.

This role involves collecting, evaluating, analyzing, and disseminating timely intelligence to relevant Agency personnel and external stakeholders. It is crucial for identifying and reporting intelligence concerns to support decision-making and minimize risks to the Agency and community.

In this role, you will:

  • Identify and maintain human source intelligence (including prisoners, staff, and visitors)
  • Utilize Prisoner Telephone System data and call records
  • Review data in QCS indices and intelligence systems
  • Use QCS Intel system to retain information
  • Apply charting and mathematical modeling to identify linkages between entities
  • Use statistical records for data collation
  • Utilize the IOMS intelligence module
  • Record analysis in the QCS Intelligence System
  • Develop operational and tactical hypotheses regarding security risks in correctional centres
  • Follow endorsed QCSIG methodology, including office automation and dedicated intelligence software like Analyst Notebook
  • Share intelligence outcomes using the QCS Intelligence system
  • Undertake Escape Risk Assessments
  • Conduct assessments to inform placement decisions, using approved formats including oral and written reports, following QCS procedures
  • Assist in developing intelligence collection and operational plans
  • Support partner agencies under the guidance of the QCS Intelligence Group
  • Participate in centre-based partnering initiatives
