Our team

The Corporate Data and Analysis team is responsible for delivering centralised data reporting and analysis across Corporate Division, with the aim of improving data quality, enhancing visibility, and enabling faster, evidence-based decision-making. The team leverages modern data management practices and tools to reduce duplication of effort and ensure consistency in reporting. Working closely with stakeholders across Corporate Division, the team provides guidance, support, and expertise to help embed best practices in data use and reporting.

The team currently has responsibility for all Human Resources reporting and analysis including the design and delivery of data products, establishing data governance processes and continuous improvement or automation of regular reporting programs such as the Agency Survey and Workplace Gender Equality Agency Reporting programs. In addition to this, the team will deliver a project to define requirements and determine the most appropriate pathway to establish an expanded centralised Corporate data reporting and analysis service. This includes developing prototype data products to demonstrate potential benefits, establishing data governance systems, and providing recommendations of technology and service models.

The role

As the Corporate Data Analyst you will initially be responsible for the delivery of all Human Resources related metrics, reports and analysis while supporting the Manager to scale the function and adopt further reporting and analysis responsibilities.

In this role you will:

  • Exercise autonomy and use sound judgement to extract, develop and deliver workforce reports (such as headcount, turnover and diversity metrics) and analysis solutions that support day to day decision making and APS-wide requirements, for example senate estimates and external reporting to the APSC.
  • Develop, test and maintain reports in our Human Resources information systems, including but not limited to Aurion, Learning Management Systems and Power BI.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Corporate Division, particularly in Human Resources, to maintain an understanding of strategic and operational objectives and how you can support them.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in data reporting and analysis across Corporate Division
  • Support the manager to plan and deliver a project assessing current and unmet demand for reporting and analysis across Corporate Division.
  • Using Power BI, Excel or other visualisation tools, develop prototype data products aligned to Executive needs.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • A high degree of autonomy and confidence working with corporate data, especially Human Resources data, and delivering reporting or analytical solutions.
  • The ability to learn new systems and analytics tools quickly.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills to translate data drive insights for non-technical stakeholders to influence cooperation and collaborate across sections

Required skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications in Business, Human Resources, Analytics or other related disciplines is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering reporting and analysis of corporate data to support internal and external stakeholders. Relevant experience delivering Human Resources related reporting and analysis is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications or experience using a visualization tool such as Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data management practices, and enabling technologies.
