What you'll be doing- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers to deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure data architectures and automated pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery, including migration from legacy platforms to modern cloud-based stacks.
- Develop and optimise data models and ensure reliable deployment through CI/CD processes.
- Collaborate with analytics, product, marketing, and engineering teams to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Implement and enforce data quality, governance, and security standards to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor data platform performance, proactively identify issues, and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, advocating for best practices and innovation within the team.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, architectures, and workflows.
- Support ad hoc reporting and data requests to assist various business functions.
- Balance transformation projects with ongoing support and hands-on engineering, managing priorities across multiple projects.
- Oversee development and optimisation of data solutions for internal needs and SaaS clients, ensuring business continuity and cost efficiency.
- Proven experience in data engineering with leadership, ideally in SaaS/client-facing delivery.
- Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data architectures and automated pipelines in cloud environments, including migration from legacy systems.
- Experience leading transformation projects and end-to-end migrations or commercialisation initiatives for enterprise and SME clients.
- Proficiency in Bash, SQL, Python, Spark, and dbt; familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and security best practices.
- Ability to mentor and lead technical teams, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive problem-solving with a focus on performance, reliability, and automation.
- Experience or interest in the betting, gaming, or lottery industries is a plus.
- Strong collaboration skills across analytics, product, marketing, and engineering teams.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with data engineering trends.
Salary Banding: $170,000 - $200,000 AUD + Super
Based in Brisbane with a hybrid model: in-office three days per week and WFH two days per week. Flexible hours with core collaboration times from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
