A day in the life of a Community and Recreation Disability Support Worker at Yooralla.

About

As a Disability Support Worker (DSW) in Community and Recreation, you will support adults with disability to engage in community activities. You may support clients one-on-one or in groups, mostly in the community, and occasionally in their homes. Your responsibilities may include:
  • Supporting clients in working towards their goals
  • Facilitating a wide range of recreation and social activities
  • Assisting with shopping, appointments, and events
  • Engaging clients in meaningful opportunities and relationships
  • Providing daily living and personal care support, including assistance with meal preparation, personal hygiene, and mobility.
About You

We're looking for passionate individuals with a great attitude and eagerness to learn. You should have:
  • Availability to work 2-4 days per week
  • Experience supporting clients with epilepsy and/or asthma
  • A positive approach, initiative, and self-motivation
  • Effective communication skills and good English literacy
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team
  • The willingness to support clients with personal care activities
  • An Australian Driver Licence
  • The right to work in Australia
  • The ability to obtain a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate if you don't already have one.
A Certificate IV in Disability, relevant work experience, or an interest in community services would be beneficial. If you do not have these, Yooralla provides excellent training and support.

You will be subject to NDIS Worker Screening Check.
