Overview

Social Worker/ Psychologist - Palliative Care Bereavement - Location Negotiable Within MLHD at NSW Health.

Employment Type: Temporary Full Time or Part Time (until 30 April 2026).

Position Classification: Social Worker – Level 3 | Psychologist

Remuneration: $77,358.00 - $116,038.00 per annum (+ super +17.5% leave loading where applicable)

Hours Per Week: 38

Responsibilities
  • Coordinated support and bereavement follow up of family members/carers of patients of the MLHD Palliative Care Service.
  • Consistent provision of information and psycho-education for bereaved family members/carers of patients of the MLHD Palliative Care Service.
  • Bereaved family members/carers have awareness of the available support services and resources, including the availability of bereavement counselling through MLHD for family members/carers of patients of the MLHD Palliative Care Service who meet referral criteria.
  • Ensuring client/patient care is delivered within professional, organisational, legal and ethical boundaries and reflects evidence-based practice and MLHD values.

Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers OR AHPRA registration as a Psychologist.
  • Advanced Social Work/Psychology clinical knowledge, skills and experience, with an emphasis on evidence-based practice.
  • Well-developed time management skills, written and verbal communication, and IT skills including an ability or willingness to use telehealth as a mode of delivery of clinical care.
