Brisbane, Queensland, Australia KBR Full time

Title:

Principal Coastal Engineer

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia. Working within our National Maritime Team, you will be involved with the design and planning activities for large scale multi-discipline maritime facilities for a variety of industries including; defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals). You will apply your existing experience across these different industries and lead the technical delivery of new and interesting projects. You will be supported by and get to work with a range of other disciplines across KBR and other partners.

While you may know some of our more high-profile projects, such as the AUKUS nuclear powered submarine facility upgrades (HMAS Stirling, Perth), we do much more than just defence. Our team works on large-scale clean energy (Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), wharf and port infrastructure (Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and remediation of valuable public assets (Central Pier, Melbourne).

This role will see you leveraging your existing coastal engineering experience, to deliver everything from concept designs through to construction phase support. While this is primarily a technical role, you will be given opportunities for leadership (project management and design management), and business development (proposal preparation and client positioning).

Who are you?

Our Principal Coastal Engineers typically have more than 15 years experience with the following skills and experience:

  • Significant experience in the design, evaluation and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works and marine structures (wharves, jetties, port developments, marinas, seawalls, pontoons, dredging)
  • Significant experience with coastal modelling software (desirable skillset: DELFT-3D, SWAN, MIKE)
  • Significant experience working with the local governments, port clients and/or the Defence sector
  • Familiarity with Australian design codes and guidelines
  • Actively driving innovation within the team and providing supervision, guidance and mentoring to less experienced colleagues
  • Ability to project manage and/or design manage large maritime projects; or teams within larger multidisciplinary projects.
  • Ability to actively engage with clients, pursue and position for opportunities and leverage existing connections to win work
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (or ability to get chartership within agreed timeframe)
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Eligibility for Australian Government security clearance

Don't meet every requirement? That's OK. We are growing our team with a range of diverse and varied professionals. If you don't meet the experience above, but still think you can contribute to the team, we encourage you to apply and have a chat to us.
