Overview

Brisbane, Queensland, Australia — Portfolio Specialist role focused on portfolio prioritization, investment planning, and governance support within the government space.

Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of a Portfolio Prioritization Framework and provide subject matter expertise to improve investment planning and decision-making processes.
  • Interpret relevant frameworks and methodologies to develop practical and transparent prioritization tools.
  • Provide advice on infrastructure portfolio planning, including demand forecasting, cost-benefit analysis, and program balancing.
  • Advise and influence senior executives and government stakeholders, facilitating workshops and briefings with authority and confidence.
  • Build organizational capability by developing tools, templates, training, and guidance material.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across ISD to embed evidence-based and disciplined prioritization practices.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in Asset Management, Project Management, Infrastructure Planning, Business, Economics or related disciplines (highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated experience in government infrastructure investment planning or capital portfolio management.
  • Experience working in complex organizations or government agencies.
  • Background in public sector reform, business transformation, or applying prioritization and decision-making frameworks in infrastructure or planning contexts.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
  • Proven ability to design practical solutions, drive results, and manage change.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges in a large organization.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and manage conflict.
  • A team-focused mindset with the confidence to lead conversations and foster capability uplift across the Division.
