The Database Engineering team at Workday designs, builds, develops, maintains, and supervises database infrastructure to meet all of Workday's data-related needs with dedication and scale. We are a fast-paced and diverse team responsible for designing, automating, managing, and running databases on Private and Public Cloud Platforms.
About the RoleThis position oversees database reliability engineering in Chennai, providing customers with dependable and highly available database infrastructure. As a leader, you will guide DBAs and database engineers to achieve excellence by emphasizing dependability and availability, improving database performance, and serving in a rotational on-call capacity.
About You- 8 years of experience with design, development, management of database administration and development using MySQL, PostgreSQL, CloudSQL, and other Cloud native databases.
- Hands-on experience with at least one Cloud technology: AWS, GCP, and/or other clouds managing clustered, highly available database services deployed on different flavors of Linux.
- Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience.
- Experience with database architecture, design, replication, clustering, HA/DR.
- Working experience in multiple languages such as shell, python, ruby, etc.
- Good working knowledge of GitHub, JIRA, Confluence.
- Outstanding team player with considerable analytical, collaborative, and written communication abilities.
- Ability to explain complicated technological concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
