About The Role

• The Elite Men's Assistant Referee Developer contributes to the education, development and world class performance of Assistant Referees within the A-League Men's Panel and Football Australia competitions.
• Build relationships and provide an environment where officials can develop technical knowledge and officiating skills to enhance the Elite Men's Refereeing Panel, A-Leagues and Football Australia Competitions.
• Work with the Head of Referees and GM Elite Refereeing to support program strategy, provide leadership on program elements and deliver high quality mentoring to promote selection of panel members to national and international programs.
• This role is part-time fixed term until 30 June 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Facilitate and support progression and enhancement of Assistant Referees in the ALM Elite Refereeing Program and Football Australia Competitions to improve on-field decision-making accuracy as per Elite Refereeing Department metrics.
• Provide targeted mentoring strategies based on personal observation and observer assessments outcomes.
• Lead and guide panel members, promoting the Football Australia Elite Refereeing Philosophy and a culture of continuous improvement.
• Understand worldwide trends in referee development and apply world-class practices to support education and development of Australian match officials.
• Promote a supportive and motivational atmosphere within the panel and department, enabling staff to adapt to evolving football challenges.
• Support initiatives that promote World Class standards of refereeing in the A-Leagues and Football Australia competitions, ensuring officials perform at peak and deliver accurate decisions.

Qualifications & Experience

• High level refereeing experience with a proven track record as an assistant referee at A-League level.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring ability to develop elite officials.
• Ability to use performance assessment and data analysis to inform mentoring and development strategy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse stakeholder group and provide constructive feedback.
• Adaptability to evolving trends in football and refereeing while upholding Football Australia values.
• International refereeing experience (FIFA) and/or international assessors/instructors experience (Desirable).

• Working with children check or state-based equivalent
• International Criminal History Record for countries of residence in the last 10 years (where applicable)
• Out of hours and weekend work as required
