The Department of Health is seeking suitably qualified applicants for one Allied Health Lead Practitioner for CYMHS Youth Mental Health (529953) in the North and one in the Northwest of Tasmania.

We are seeking senior allied health professionals with experience in clinical leadership, complex case management, assessment, counselling and/or therapy within mental health or relevant/related sectors.

Our Aim:

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Tasmania is growing We are seeking passionate and dedicated Lead Practitioners to provide clinical services to young people and their families experiencing mental health concerns.

The Lead Practitioner will provide a person-centred approach and work within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing high-level clinical leadership to the team.

The role will include:

  • Being part of a dynamic and well-supported team committed to delivering high-quality mental health services to young people and their families/carers.
  • Undertaking clinical services through the provision of complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs.
  • Working alongside innovative team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new youth mental health services in Tasmania.
  • Leading and collaborating with a diverse group of clinicians as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing support and consultation to other team members as required.

One position is available in the North:

  • Based in Launceston CBD.
  • The North of the state offers easy access to natural beauty, including the Cataract Gorge, waterfalls, bush walks, beautiful beaches, and excellent mountain biking tracks.

One Allied Health position in the Northwest:

  • Office based in Burnie and Devonport.
  • The Northwest Coast provides access to beautiful beaches, bushwalks, and recreational activities across the small cities and townships of the region.

An attractive relocation package and support for international visa requirements may be available for successful applicants.

One permanent full-time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: $123,717 - $134,336 per annum, with an 11% superannuation contribution on top of this amount.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
  • Current Working with Children Registration.

Desirable criteria:

  • A minimum of 3 years current post-graduate experience in child, adolescent, and/or youth mental health or relevant field.
  • Training in relevant evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Family Therapy, or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
  • Current Driver's Licence.
