In line with the continued growth with GTE's Functional Safety department, we are seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to join our Perth-based team. This role will have a strong consultancy focus, supporting clients through workshops, advisory engagements, and project-specific functional safety activities.

Responsibilities:

• Advise clients across the full functional safety lifecycle, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, WHS legislation, and project specifications.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and engineering teams to embed functional safety principles into the design and delivery of control and safety-related systems.
• Prepare functional safety management plans, hazard and risk assessments, Safety Requirement Specifications, verification reports, and other key deliverables.
• Support clients through functional safety assessments, audits, and validation activities.
• Facilitate and lead client workshops, including hazard identification and HAZOP risk assessments, and SIL/ PLr determination studies.
• Develop and deliver customised client functional safety training.
• Develop maintenance and proof test procedures aligned with safety integrity requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing high-quality, tailored functional safety advice.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in machinery and process safety (desirable).
• Functional Safety Certification (desirable).
• Minimum 5 years' post-certification experience in a Functional Safety Engineer role.
• Strong working knowledge of standards including AS IEC 61508, AS IEC 62061, ISO 13849, AS 4024 series, and AS IEC 61511.
• Consultancy, client-facing, or workshop facilitation experience is highly desirable.
• Experience within mining, resources, or process industries.
• Excellent communication skills with a client-centric approach.
• The right to work in Australia.
