We are seeking a passionate Head of Department - Teaching and Learning to join our dedicated leadership team at Richmond State School. This role involves leading the alignment and contextualization of curriculum to ensure consistency with school priorities and departmental initiatives, guiding teachers in refining teaching and learning practices, building capacity, and embedding evidence-based approaches that enhance student outcomes. A key part of the role is fostering collaboration across the school community to create a culture of shared responsibility for high-quality curriculum delivery and effective teaching that meets the needs of all learners.

In the secondary years, Richmond State School operates multi-age Year 7-10 classes. This structure enables flexible curriculum delivery, supports differentiated instruction, and fosters a collaborative learning environment. About the RoleAs the Head of Department at Richmond State School, you will play a pivotal leadership role across all year levels from Prep to Year 10 in shaping and advancing the educational direction of the school, ensuring that curriculum priorities align with school and departmental initiatives. You will contribute to the broader vision of the Early Childhood and State Schools Division, driving excellence through the development of high-quality teaching and learning practices. Your leadership will foster a collaborative and supportive environment where strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and key stakeholders are cultivated and maintained. You will report directly to the Principal or their delegate, upholding a standard of accountability and commitment to educational success.
Your Responsibilities- Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
- Lead AIP focus areas of reading and differentiation.
- Embed the General Capabilities and Cross-Curricular Priorities into the curriculum to equip students with knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions to live and work successfully.
- Align the three levels of curriculum planning to the Australian Curriculum and the requirements of the K-12 Framework.
- Data analysis – LOA and NAPLAN.
- Lead systematic synthetic phonics.
- Attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should understand your relevant work history) and
- Attach a 2-page response to the How you will be Assessed section of the attached role description.
