Job Title: Middle School Track and Field Assistant Coach

Reports To: Athletic Director and Building Principal

Summary:

The Traverse City Area Public Schools are seeking a team-oriented professional to assist in administering the track and field program under the leadership of the Head Coach and Athletic Director. The assistant coach will provide direction to student athletes, helping them achieve a high level of skill and develop discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coaching and mentoring student athletes to improve their skills and knowledge
  • Planning and setting up activities, practices, and contests as assigned by the head coach
  • Developing training programs and practice schedules when assigned by the head coach
  • Ensuring proper storage, maintenance, and inventory of athletic equipment and uniforms
  • Travelling with the team and supervising student athletes on the bus
  • Dressing in a professional manner during contests and public functions
  • Adhering to financial policies and procedures for collecting and disbursing money, expenses, and receipts
  • Making recommendations for purchasing uniforms, equipment, and supplies
  • Enforcing discipline policies and emphasizing sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles
  • Supervising students in locker rooms and ensuring appropriate behavior
  • Explaining and enforcing rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of athletic activities and athletes
  • Maintaining a safe environment and facilities for student athletes
  • Ensuring medical and safety requirements are met

Terms of Employment:

This is a part-time position with a salary range of $2684-$2904 per season. The position is open until filled.
