Job Title: Middle School 7th History/Coach

The Hempstead Independent School District is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Middle School 7th Grade History/Coach. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for teaching and coaching, with the ability to create engaging lesson plans and foster a positive learning environment.

About the Job:
  • This is a part-time contract position, working 187 days per year.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching 7th grade history and serving as a coach for the middle school team.
Key Responsibilities:Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the requirements of the district's curriculum program.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Student Growth and Development
  • Create and amend lesson plans regularly to match the learning style(s) and current instructional needs of students in the classroom.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned, including sponsoring outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Communication
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Regular daily attendance and active participation in Professional Learning Communities.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year student teaching or approved internship experience.
  • Knowledge of core academic subject area assigned and curriculum and instruction.
