Base pay range

A$170,000.00/yr - A$220,000.00/yr

A unique opportunity is available for an experienced Electronics Team Lead with deep expertise in RF and embedded hardware. This position offers the chance to step into a dual-role environment where technical leadership meets hands-on engineering. You'll be responsible for delivering complex hardware systems while also scaling a team of high-performing electronics and RF engineers.

You'll oversee all aspects of electronics development—design, prototyping, validation, and optimisation—while supporting cross-functional projects that span detection technologies and electronic warfare platforms. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives on technical depth, project ownership, and collaborative delivery.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and technical direction for a growing team of hardware and RF engineers
• Allocate resources, plan work packages, and align team output to strategic goals and delivery timelines
• Work closely with procurement to ensure quality and continuity in hardware components
• Promote consistency in documentation, testing, and quality control across engineering functions
• Identify skills gaps and work with leadership to scale team capabilities for future projects

Technical Execution & Development

• Design and review schematic and PCB layouts using Altium, maintaining high-speed digital and RF integrity
• Create hardware solutions optimised for manufacturability, EMC compliance, thermal performance, and power efficiency
• Oversee verification and validation activities, from bench testing through to full system integration
• Maintain and manage lab infrastructure, test rigs, and production debugging setups
• Work alongside firmware, mechanical, and systems teams to ensure seamless product development

Your Experience & Skill Set

• Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 10+ years in electronic/RF hardware development, with 2–3 years in a leadership or team management capacity
• Strong background in RF design: impedance matching, isolation techniques, filter design, and layout practices
• Expert user of Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
• Confident with benchtop equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, VNAs, signal generators)
• Proven track record in designing for EMC, DFM, and system-level reliability
• Knowledge of power supply design (including switch-mode) and battery-powered product architecture
• Understanding of RF compliance standards and test certification processes

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Software Defined Radio platforms and multi-carrier transmission systems
• Familiarity with Agile or PMP methodologies
• Experience managing RF front-end design up to 10 GHz and 100W
• Practical knowledge of antenna behaviour, signal path performance, and receiver sensitivity theory
