Overview

As a Warehouse Assistant, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the warehouse. Your role involves managing various aspects of warehouse logistics, including receiving, storage, distribution, and maintenance as well as loading and unloading and checking products for events. You'll play a critical role in ensuring productivity targets are met and that all warehouse processes run smoothly.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic
  • Company Alignment: Understand and align warehouse operations with the company's policies and vision.
  • Operations Oversight: Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations.
  • Space Utilization: Set up the warehouse layout to ensure efficient space utilization.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Policies and Procedures: Initiate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all warehousing, handling, and shipping legislation requirements.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security within the warehouse.
  • Inventory and Staff Management
  • Stock Control: Manage stock control and reconcile data storage systems.
  • Budgeting: Prepare the annual budget for warehouse operations.
  • Team Leadership: Plan work schedules, assign tasks, and evaluate results.
  • Employee Management: Recruit, select, orient, coach, and motivate warehouse staff.
  • Reporting and Analysis
  • Data Reporting: Regularly produce reports and statistics (e.g., IN/OUT status report, dead stock report).
  • Quality Monitoring: Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided.
Requirements and Skills
  • Proven work experience as a Warehouse Assistant.
  • Expertise in warehouse procedures and best practices.
  • Ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators.
  • Hands-on experience with organisational skills.
  • Leadership skills, decision-making ability, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
  • Packing and Inventory Control skills
  • Forklift Operation and Inventory Management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience in a warehouse or similar environment.
  • A forklift license or certification is preferred
  • Driver\'s license required. You will need to drive 3tonne trucks.
