The Opportunity

As a Lecturer in the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) program, you will report to the Academic Lead and play a pivotal role in advancing SCEI-HE's academic mission. You will deliver research-informed, high-quality teaching and foster engaging learning experiences, maintaining expertise in social work and contributing to curriculum excellence.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Design and deliver lectures, workshops, small group discussions, oral assessments, and other learning activities aligned with approved subject outlines.
• Monitor and support student progress, maintaining accurate records of participation, coursework, and assessments.
• Collaborate with the Course Coordinator/Academic Lead and colleagues to ensure consistent resourcing and delivery strategies, fostering a cohesive team environment.
• Develop and implement strategies to identify, support, and retain students facing academic challenges, in consultation with teaching staff.
• Create, maintain, and evaluate student learning programs and subject materials to enhance engagement and understanding.
• Contribute to course administration, including maintaining attendance records, developing assessment tasks, and ensuring compliance with SCEI-HE quality guidelines.
• Grade assessments and provide timely academic results.
• Keep delivery and assessment materials current and relevant.
• Coordinate unit delivery with colleagues when multiple academics are involved.
• Innovate teaching methods to inspire interest, understanding, and enthusiasm among students.
• Participate in practice area teams to develop and refine course materials.
• Attend orientation, induction, and course team meetings to support program goals.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Attributes

• A PhD in Social Work or a related Human and Community Services discipline, with a preference for at least 2 years of teaching experience in higher education.
• Relevant industry experience in social work, aligned with the academic level and content taught.
• Membership in the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or a recognised professional body.
• Demonstrated ability to develop innovative teaching practices and engaging learning resources.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to thrive in a team-oriented academic environment.
