About The RoleWe are looking for a qualified, passionate, advanced Clinical Coder with experience in conducting clinical coding audits and education to join our Health Information team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting regular coding audits, provision of coding education to the team, monitoring coder's performance, education of clinicians on clinical documentation, DRG and activity-based funding and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The role offers a hybrid work model providing flexibility to work remotely.
Your main duties- Conduct comprehensive coding audits to identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to enhance coding accuracy
- Lead and provide ongoing coding education to support team growth and professional development
- Prepare and deliver education and training activities to the coding team
- Educate clinicians on clinical documentation improvement, DRG and activity-based funding
- Timely and accurate completion of clinical coding using ICD-10-AM, ACHI and the provision of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG's); adhere to the Australian Coding Standards when interpreting documentation for coding purposes
- Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent tertiary qualification) or Clinical Coding qualification or completion of Clinical coding auditing course and be eligible for full HIMAA membership
- Demonstrated auditing experience in a tertiary hospital with sound knowledge of audit processes and data integrity
- Minimum of 3-5 years coding experience in abstracting and coding across a wide case mix in a private or public health facility
- Sound understanding of Australian and NSW Coding Standards
- Knowledge of developing, designing and implementing training programs for coders and clinical documentation improvement recommendations
